What are Nixplay Photo Competitions?

Nixplay Photo Competitions are a fun way to showcase your best photos, get inspired by others, and even win a prize! Some competitions are open to all Nixplay users, while others are exclusive to Nixplay Plus subscribers. Check the details of each competition to see if you’re eligible.

How do I enter a competition?

It’s easy to join:

Open the Nixplay app.
Select Competitions from the menu at the bottom of the screen.
Browse the available competitions, check the theme, number of entries allowed, and any specific rules.
Submit your photos directly through the app.

How does voting work?

Voting is open to the entire Nixplay community!

Here’s how it works:

You can vote on photos that catch your eye by simply tapping the vote button.
Each competition lists how many votes you’re allowed to cast.
The more votes a photo receives, the higher it will rank in the competition.
You can vote even if you don’t submit any photos!

We encourage everyone to join in the fun and support their favorite photos.

How is voting fair?

We’ve designed the Nixplay voting system to give every photo a fair chance to be seen and voted on. Here’s how we ensure fairness:

Randomised photo display: When browsing photos, users see a randomised selection, so no one’s photo is always shown first or last.
Equal visibility: All photos have an equal opportunity to appear in the voting stream, regardless of when they were uploaded.
Community-driven results: Votes come from real people within the Nixplay community, ensuring the competition reflects genuine preferences.

We monitor the system for fairness, and any attempts to manipulate votes (such as using bots or vote farming) are strictly prohibited and may result in disqualification.

How are winners chosen?

For most competitions, winners are chosen based on the number of votes received. The photo(s) with the most votes at the end of the competition period will win the listed prizes.

Important notes:

One prize per person per competition: If a user has multiple photos in the top rankings, they will only receive a prize for their highest-ranked photo. The prize for any additional top entries will pass to the next eligible participant.
Tiebreakers: If two or more photos have the same number of votes, the photo that was submitted earlier will be ranked higher.

We are also introducing a Top Photographer competition, where the total number of votes across all your submitted photos in a competition will count towards your final score. Stay tuned for details!

What are the rules for submitting photos?

Each competition will include specific rules and themes, but here are our general content guidelines:

You must own the rights to any photos you submit.
We do not accept images that:
- Contain offensive or explicit material.
- Feature religious or political content.
- Depict violence, weapons, or other prohibited themes.

Photos are moderated using a combination of automated tools and manual review. This may cause a short delay before your photo appears in the competition.

What are the moderation and exclusion criteria?

We take content moderation seriously to ensure a positive experience for all. Photos that violate the general rules or specific competition criteria may be removed or disqualified.

This includes, but is not limited to:

Low-quality or heavily watermarked images.
Irrelevant submissions (e.g. off-topic content).
Duplicate or near-identical photos from the same user.
Images that violate copyright or intellectual property rights.

In competitions that allow multiple entries per person, moderation also ensures:

A fair spread of content across different participants.
No individual can dominate the leaderboard with multiple top-ranking entries.

Can my photo be used by Nixplay?

Yes! By entering a competition, you agree that Nixplay may feature your photo in marketing materials, newsletters, social media posts, or within the Nixplay app to promote competitions and showcase winners.
