Restricted content

Restricted content is any content that exceeds your plan's limits. From April 21st, it will be shown as locked in our app and cannot be shared or viewed on a frame. Some content can become restricted if you choose to downgrade your current plan or if we have to change certain plan limits. 

For instance, if you are currently using 2GB of photo storage on the Nixplay Standard plan, you will have 1.5GB of restricted photographs from April 21st because Nixplay Standard (which has unlimited cloud photo storage) is being replaced by Nixplay Basic (which has 500MB of cloud photo storage). 

Rest assured, we will not delete any of your content from your frame or your cloud storage and your content is safe.

Usage management

On April 21st we will introduce new usage management tools which will make it easy for you to keep your favorite items and quickly delete others, so that you can continue using your Nixplay plan without reaching or going over the plan's limits. We will send more information to you about this in the coming weeks.

Photo storage limits

• Nixplay Basic FREE plans come with 500MB of cloud photo storage
• Nixplay Lite subscription plans have 100GB cloud photo storage
• Nixplay Plus subscription plans have unlimited cloud photo storage

💡Good to know

1. Photo storage relates to the total size of your Nixplay albums including any Shared, Gift and Event albums that you own. 

2. Photos in your connected albums including Google, Dropbox and Competitions albums do not count towards your photo storage usage.

3. During upload, photos are automatically resized to a maximum file size based on your plan. For Basic (Free) users, photos are resized to a maximum file size of 3MB and for Lite and Plus subscribers the maximum file size is 12MB.

4. If the ‘Optimize Photos’ setting is turned on in the app, all photos will be further compressed during upload, reducing their file size even more. Since photos are optimized before uploading, their final size is checked against your available storage and if there isn’t enough space, you’ll receive an alert.

Video storage limits

• Nixplay Basic FREE plans have a 500MB cloud video storage limit
• Nixplay Lite subscription plans have a 5GB cloud video storage limit
• Nixplay Plus subscription plans have a 50GB cloud video storage limit

 

💡Good to know

1. Your video limits concern both your cloud storage and the length of your videos, so read on for more information.

2. From April 21st, content in excess of your plan's limits will be restricted and you won't be able to share it or view it on your frame. We will not delete any of your content from your frame or your cloud storage and we will provide tools for you to manage your content.

Video length limits

• Nixplay Basic FREE plans have a 15 second video length limit
• Nixplay Lite subscription plans have a 1 minute video length limit
• Nixplay Plus subscription plans have a 2 minutes video length limit
  

 

💡Good to know

1. You can edit the length of your videos in the Nixplay app when you upload them. 

2. We'll also be launching a new tool soon, so that you can edit the length of videos you have already uploaded to your account.

Connected albums limits

• Nixplay Basic FREE plans will not have the ability to connect a synced album to Google Photos or Dropbox from April 21st 2025
• Nixplay Lite subscription plans have a limit of 1 Dropbox connected album and unlimited Google Photos connected albums
• Nixplay Plus subscription plans have unlimited Dropbox and Google Photos connected albums

Shared album limits

• Nixplay Basic FREE plans have a limit of 1 shared album
• Nixplay Lite and Nixplay Plus subscription plans have unlimited shared albums
  

 

💡Good to know

1. The people you share an album with don't have to have a Nixplay frame to add photos, but they do need to have the (free) Nixplay app.

2. Contributors to your shared album don't have to be on the same plan level as you and any photos and videos they add to your shared album will not be counted in your storage limits.

3. From April 21st, shared albums in excess of your plan's limits will be restricted and your contributors won't be able to view them on their frame. We will not delete any of your content from your frame or your cloud storage and we will provide tools for you to manage your shared albums.
